About The Course
Have you been involved in a car accident? Received a ticket for a Traffic Violation? In most cases, we can Help. Completion of one of our AAA Driver Improvement Courses taught by current and former Law Enforcement Officers, can help your Motor Vehicle Record with a Point Reduction or by adding Safe Driving points, (point reduction/addition varies by state). If you are facing a Drivers License suspension for points, you must complete the course before your suspension begins. (This defensive driving course, while removing/adding points, will not automatically cancel your suspension once it begins). In many cases you will need to consult with your traffic court to determine if a Driver Improvement course is right for you.
The purpose of this course is to help prevent collisions and promote safe driving practices.
This is an accredited AAA Driver Improvement program.

Additional Information
-
Point System: Most States use a point system to track traffic violations and assess penalties.
-
Accumulation of Points: Points are added to a driver’s record for traffic violations. The more serious the violation, the higher the number of points. (Just a reminder, this course is NOT for DUI Violations)
-
Point Reduction Eligibility: Drivers can reduce the number of points on their driving record by completing a state-approved defensive driving course. We teach the AAA Driver Improvement Course, which is accepted in most states but if you are Licensed in any state other than South Carolina, you will need to have an agreement with the court to bring in a Certificate of completion and they handle that at the court level.
-
Course Requirements: The defensive driving course must be approved by the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) or your traffic court and typically takes 8 hours to complete.
-
Point Reduction Amount: Completing a defensive driving course can reduce up to 4 points from a driver’s record (If you have a South Carolina Drivers License)
-
Frequency of Reduction: Drivers can only take a point reduction class once every 3 years.
-
Course Completion: After completing the course, we will submit a certificate of completion to the SCDMV to have the points reduced but you will still need to pay whatever fines or court costs required to settle your ticket.
-
Impact on Insurance: Completing a defensive driving course may also result in lower insurance premiums, some insurers offer discounts for this course but others may not, this is between you and your insurance provider to work this out.
-
Consequences of Point Accumulation: Accumulating too many points can lead to higher insurance rates, license suspension, or other penalties.
-
Checking Your Driving Record: Drivers can check their point balance and driving record through the SCDMV website (or equivalent website of your drivers license state) or students can contact them directly.
